Top 5 things that she wants from you!

One thing that the girls cannot get enough of, are the complements. So, heaven forbid if you decided to let go of an opportunity to praise her dressing style, the way she looks, her nail paint and the works. At times, they are known to drop hints and lines you are supposed to catch and take the discussion with them. The best bet in this case is to be attentive, ALWAYS, when with them and despite however they may be; and LISTEN to all that she says.

Somehow they get a kick in trying to have fun with you if you missed even a bit of what they said. They will always feign indignation at your apparent lack of interest, raise hue and cry and playfully refuse to tell you the thing. The best way out of this mess is to humor them and keep on cajoling them to reveal that itsy bitsy peace of info.

Curtsy and Chivalry are the two things which are, at times, assumed to be dead but definitely not for our desi femme fatales. They most certainly want their men to open the doors for them, offer and pull up seats for them, and help them cross the road. While women empowerment people may raise hue and cry over the fact that men are trying to undermine the authority of the females and not allowing them to progress by providing them with an undue preferential treatment; even they are secretly happy when a colleague offers them a seating place.
At times you may be called upon the arduous task of helping them in choosing what shade they should go for. So, even if you don’t know the difference between cyan and fawn shades, it would really help your case if you would feign interest and actually have some conversation with her about what shade of nail paint suits her complexion most. It is not the actual color shades that she is interested in but the fact that you are paying attention to what she is actually doing. The best option for you is to take a careful look at all the shades that she has short-listed; pick any random one and stick to it. If it is a shade that she actually likes, she will be happy at your “participation” and you get to have a treat. On the other hand, if she doesn’t like the shade, she will laugh at the silly you your poor color combination skills and proceed to buy a shade of her choice while still giving you brownie points for “participation”.

And the last, but definitely not the least; CHEESY LINES! However much everyone says that the cheesy lines are passé, our female friends cannot get enough of it. Any confrontation? Try a cheesy line about her looking even better when she is angry and watch her melt faster than butter in 500o oven. Did not pay attention to her when she was asking which dress to wear to the party? Try complementing her on looking beautiful in any which dress.

Trust me! It works!!!

LIFE

Life is not a race. Irrespective of whatever you see people around you doing, it is not OK if you keep on pushing yourself to the extreme every so often. More frequently you do so, more easily the fatigue would settle in and more early you will have to get your heart or brain replaced. If you do get a time to enjoy with your family, then chose that option instead of working overnight in an overstressed office. Take a break every so often. Try to enjoy the life. Love your near and dear ones and share things with them. Bring gifts home and not office work!

Life is not only YOURS. There are a lot of other stakeholders to it. Despite whatever you feel like, there would be at least one more person whose happiness or misery depends on you. If you feel sad, then that person might be feeling even more so just because you feel that way. And for sure, your smile would brighten the day for that person too!

Life is meant to be shared with others. Were it not so… please realize that YOU would have been the central character in “Christmas Carols” and not Uncle Scrooge. Count your blessings if you have a big, noisy family because it also means that you so many people to share your life with; people to take care of you when you are ill; people for you to confide in when did something stupid and people to protect you when you did something stupider; people to join you in the bandwagon when you ride that ghodi and go to your marriage.

Life is not your personal fiefdom. Please understand that if a particular person has had the misfortune of working with you; that does not mean that you own him or her. It would not exactly be a disastrous mistake to congratulate them for anything, big or small. And a “Well done” once in a while would not go amiss.

On a lighter note:

Life is not your personal mobile message draft option. Please do realize that while typing LOL sounds kewl while chatting or in messages, always keep in mind that it is not to be used in live, verbal communication. It is high time that you realize that ACTUALLY laughing is perfectly acceptable in normal everyday communication; though not when you receive some bad news. Laughing then would only get you into a strait jacket and be deemed a nut case.

Please do realize that the real life not just a level in Need For Speed. It is much more. Hence, it is not cool that you hit an old woman crossing the road and run away. If you do that, you are bound to be caught. Unless you are the son of a politician, no matter how lowly, a film star or the son of any kind of billionnaires, even if it is a Mustard oil billionaire. High speed chases are not very common in the real life, especially considering the unique infrastructure of suburbs like Mumbai and Kolkata where a pedestrian barely gets space to walk, let alone drive. Delhi, thanks to the immaculate planning of Shielaji and Kalmadi sahib, has more potholes than a typical Emraan Hashmi movie, the roads are shot to hell and hence no chance to drive fast.

Random Thoughts

Just today, I was talking to my family. We were planning what to have in dinner. Different views were being contributed all across the bed but we could not reach any consensus. Tired of this daily exercise, I suggested to my cousin who is pursuing her M Sc in Food nutrition that she should take, as her research project, the onerous task of devising a pill so that we do not need to eat or cook food. A simple tablet should do the trick.

Then, we had a discussion which I will sum it up here... We all work because we need to eat good food, do to good places. The lower class likes rickshaw worker and masons etc work primarily to earn four square meals of the day. If a pill was to be devised in which a pill, once eaten, would last a week or something; or any similar variation of standardization... Where would the variety of life come from? Why would I want to earn loads of money when all i have to do is pop the pill... better to lead a more of a comfortable life.

That got me to think... what would happen were we to go to a WALL-E kind of state when day-in and day-out you are doing the same thing, meeting only the same people and wearing the same clothes for months straight. How dull the life would turn out to be... A mass of blob all across... Where would the difference in life come from? What would be the initiative for one person to differentiate themselves from the others?
