Change!

This post has been published by me as a part of the Blog-a-Ton Season 2 edition 18; the eighteenth edition of the online marathon of Bloggers; where we decide and we write. To be part of the next edition, visit and start following Blog-a-Ton.

Change the way you look;
Change the way you cook.

Change the way you talk;
Change the way you walk.

Change the way you touch and feel;
Change the way you injure and heal.

Change the way you talk to folks;
Don’t worry; sometimes you can have egg yolks.

For a change, don’t keep people in a lurch;
Once in a while, visit the church.

Ride a horse instead of a mare;
Change the world for all I care.

Change whatever others feel you mar;
Just don’t change who you really are!

PS: This marks my first attempt at writing something close to a poem. I generally write big articles and decided to write something lesser than a 100 words this time. Do let me know how this attempt fared.

  1. Beautiful thoughts on change...and yes, when it comes to our own selves...we tend to take a halt...we always have to sacrifice self in the end for a change...:)

    I enjoyed your thoughts! Wish you will like my take on the subject!

    All the best!

    @All: Being a first attempt, I wasn't sure about how to go on about it as this is so drastically different to what I normally do... but this was good to do and probably will try and do more of it!

    @Amity: Will surely go through your take on this!

    @Mudassir, Meher: I tried to keep it simple because I cant pull off a complicated one :D

  9. Ashish, this is short sweet poem, loved it.. Smiles, mine is what most people feel in their heart but no one does Change

    Someone is Special

  10. @BRAT: at times even that is acceptable but only at times and only for someone special! but still one shouldn't change the base reality of who they are!

    @Special: glad that you liked it!

  13. Sometimes rhymes can enter and take away meaning and flow in a poem... this did happen in a couple of stanzas. The first 3 stanzas were galloping along rather well until the poem started getting torn apart by a fight between meaning and rhyming... it is a nice start, no doubt but you need to link thoughts with a lot of precision in a poem.

    You can overcome all this if you keep writing poetry.

    Thanx for the honest feedback and it is something that I would take care of in the coming poems, if there are any!

    Compactness of thoughts, as required for a poem, I have to develop because I am more used to multitude of thoughts that I have for the ginormous posts that I usually write. But all feedback well accpeted.

  16. Simple word and great message! But I think we keep on changing, and we should .. otherwise we would become very boring!

    ReplyDelete
  17. @Doc: That is my favorite line too... in fact, it was penned down before the poem itself got finalized

    @Aativas: Welcome to the world of my Wandering Thoughts... Feel free to explore more!

    I am glad that you liked it. I too feel that we change and we should change; sometimes voluntarily and sometimes we are forced to change. The important thing, however, is to have a certain constancy as well in our self which should anchor us... otherwise we might get lost in too many changes!
