Naxalite Attacks

The newspapers today are full of the recent Maoist attacks on the CRPF personnel, resulting in 76 of them being killed. It is at these times that I feel ashamed of being an Indian. Don’t take me wrong here, I am very glad that I am an Indian, I like our culture, our values, our food (especially) and all other things. But I can’t tolerate this soft stand that the Indian government has a habit of adopting on issues which require a firm handling. Why should we see our security personnel being killed by a rag-tag bunch of bandits? We should learn a lesson or two from the global precedents. Look at the way the Americans destroyed the rule of Saddam Husain or the Afghanistan incident. Now I am not saying that what they did was correct in any sense but the idea here is to adopt the firm “No-nonsense” policy against any threat to the nation from any invaders; be them these bandits or China. Look at SriLanka… Their firm handling of LTTE got them off for good. Now that’s the way we should handle the situations and not play by the vote bank politics of the leftists.

We have top class defense, strategy personnel in India. India, as a country, is known for people with humungous brain powers. Why don’t we utilize a fraction of it in such projects and eradicate these bas****s completely.

In this case, I hope that all the political parties get together for a full and final eradication of such anti national forces. I, for one, am all for it.

  2. hey...aashish i disagree with you on this issue....first of all....they rnt invaders.....they r our own ppl.....fighting for their existence....accepted that wat they r doing is not correct.....but the govt cannot just go and destroy them.....they r d same ppl whose farms, lands, houses were taken away just 4 d sake of mining etc....whic was their only source of living......the govt definitely has failed but not coz they hav not been able to kill those maoists but coz their infav policy and wrong doings hav led to such a big force of maoists in d country......

  3. @Swapy: Isn't that how it all starts? Some of the people who are not satisfied with what government or someone else is doing and they decide to take things up on their own. When has this led to anything fruitful? And how can that justify the mass killing of so many people? Mining, unlike other industries, is restricted by where the natural resources are and can not be shifted elsewhere like the Tata Nano project. And its not that their lands etc are taken and they are left without any sources. They are duely given proper monetary compensation, lands etc (and usually much more than what that property merits), which they later sell to the mafia for more money and then don't vacate the lands. What is the govt to do then?

  4. nope....actually thats wat is understood.....but these ppl try everything (courts, police, govt etc) and wen left wid no option, they take up arms....see just look at the scale at which maoism has spread....see...first let me clarify that m not taking their side.....they r obvsly wrong.... but only wen they killed 77 odd ppl....they got notice of the govt.....whr as if govt had paid attention to their disappoint earlier this cud hav been avoided.....and abt mining....jus look at the size of the fertile land that is dug out; moreover the top layer is buried in, plus it takes a lot of time for the mining to get over....also the price paid by govt to these ppl r too low compared to mkt prices....and govt need to generate emplyment for these ppl as they r already illiterate which doesnt help their cause of getting a job else whr....in such a situation....they strive hard for survival....i think m talking too much....but this issue is a failure of the govt (not just this but the earlier govts as well) rather than anything else....and wat i mean is if we just kill these ppl....it will b gross injustice to humanity.....

Trust me, and I speak from experience of having seen the government side as well (I was in a mining PSU and have seen a fair bit of this)... The villagers are given more than the fair compensation for the land, in addition to employments eg at CIL, they were offered an employment in company per hectare or two... in addition to their relocation and maintenance of villages and other utilities... as for mining, like i said, it can not be shifted elsewhere as it is absolutely inflexible in terms of relocation. hence, even if the land is fertile it would have to be dug because of the precious minerals inside it... and once the mining is done, the govt has a long standing directive to restore the land to pre-mining phase before giving it back to the people... true at some point the givt has too failed, but for the most part, it is a fault of these maoist elite leaders for misleading the people and causing such incidents.

  6. and one more thing... there is a special instruction by the government that the top metre or something of the fertile soil has to be retained separately and would be spread upon the reclaimed area after mining is done.
